  • [01] DIMAR leader says he has discussed possibility of cooperation with SYRIZA in general elections

ANA/MPA---Democratic Left (DIMAR) leader Fotis Kouvelis opened the door for cooperation with main opposition SYRIZA during his speech to DIMAR's Executive Committee and the party's parliamentary group concluded after midnight.

According to sources, Kouvelis said that he had a phone contact with Alexis Tsipras without saying when, adding that they have discussed the possibility of cooperation between their parties at the general elections.

The same sources said that Kouvelis did not get into details, but several members and some deputies expressed their opposition on the grounds that DIMAR will risk being absorbed by SYRIZA.

Regarding the deputies stance at the second round of the election for a President of Republic, it will be the same and they will vote 'present' as they consider that Prime Minister Antonis Samaras' proposal has not changed the conditions.

MP Thomas Psiras who has signed, together with Nikos Tsoukalis and Niki Founta a letter supporting the consensus solution, was absent from the meeting.
