[01] Amphipolis skeleton test results expected in JanuaryThe test results of the skeleton found in the tomb of ancient Amphipolis – namely the gender, the age and the height of the deceased – will be made known within January.The Culture ministry in an announcement commenting on "groundless reports" on the internet clarified that the analyses of the finds in the fourth chamber of the tomb at Kasta hill were assigned to "a multidisciplinary team, composed of scientists from the Aristotle and Democritus Universities. The research program aims at a modern approach to archaeology of death. Starting with the skeletal remains in the Kasta tomb, the anthropological, social and historical context of the population of Amphipolis will be investigated – in a systematic and scientifically ethical way." The analysis of this material is part of a broader research program, which includes the holistic approach of a sample of about 300 skeletons, coming from the broader Amphipolis area and chronologically cover the period from 1000 BC to 200 BC As part of the two-year research program, the necessary modern analytical methods will be applied. The results of the tests will be competed in 20 months. [02] German Chancellor hopes Greek presidential election to have positive outcomeANA/MPA---German Chancellor Angela Merkel late on Thursday in a press conference after the end of the EU Summit expressed the hope that the procedure of the presidential election in Greece would have a positive outcome.Asked on the state of the Greek economy, she appeared optimistic, saying that the country's economy is on a steady course. [03] Ship with large number of migrants located adrift west of PylosA vessel with approximately 200 undocumented migrants on board was located adrift early Friday 117 nautical miles west-southwest of Pylos.The Italian authorities had informed the Greek Shipping and Aegean Ministry over the existence of the ship. Five vessels had rushed to the site, however, the migrants refused to get on board with destination Greece. A negotiation followed and the vessel with the migrants is being towed by a freighter to Sicily. [04] SYRIZA's Tsipras meets with representatives of the League for Human RightsANA - MPA -- The leader of the main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) party Alexis Tsipras on Thursday discussed a report showing the consequences of austerity on human rights in Greece in a meeting with the president and representatives of the Hellenic League for Human Rights (HLHR) who published the survey.Tsipras said the report, titled "Downgrading rights: the cost of austerity in Greece," confirms the importance of his party's programme which aims at supporting the most vulnerable members of society who were hit by the austerity policies. During the meeting, it was noted that the protection of human rights in all their aspects (personal, political, social and economic) is an inherent dimension of the European acquis and this is why they cannot be cancelled or downgraded through an agreement between a member-state and European institutions, like the one signed between Greece and the troika. Tsipras also said that stressing the importance of the EU and Europeanism are "empty words if they're not based on the defense of human rights." [05] Greek exports up 7.0 pct in OctoberANA/MPA---Greek exports and imports grew in October, official figures showed on Monday. A report by Hellenic Statistical Authority on the country's merchandise trade, showed that the value of import-arrivals totaled 4.272 billion euros in October, up 1.9 pct from the same month last year (excluding oil products the value of imports rose 3.1 pct).
