  • [01] Alpha Bank dismisses talk of capital increase plans

ANA/MPA---Alpha Bank's management categorically dismissed talk it planned a share capital increase plan following a successful stress test.

Responding to analysts' questions during a conference call, in the framework of the release of its nine-month results, Alpha Bank's management said the bank presented a capital surplus of 3.0 billion euros under the basic scenario of the stress test and 1.3 billion euros under the adverse scenario for its static balance sheet. Alpha Bank's exceptional stress test results showed that it was the only Greek bank to pass all stress test's scenarios. "We are certain that everyone that can read and understand numbers realizes that such rumours were completely unfounded and speculative concerning our bank. We have significant capital surpluses and our capital position is compared only with the best and capital robust banks in Europe, which makes any discussion over a capital increase out of order," the management said responding to an analyst question.
