  • [01] Private sector union GSEE convenes on PPC issue

ANA/MPA---The General Confederation of Workers (GSEE) executive board will convene on Monday to decide whether it will provide legal and union coverage to Public Power Corp. (PPC) unions' possible labour action.

According to unionists, GSEE is considering the possibility of local labour unions calling a series of strikes with different demands every time, which will also cover the company's workers.

Private sector labour union GSEE demands from the government "take back the civil mobilisation measure" and refers to the "abuse of the democratic institutions" and declares that it will "support with all legal means the struggle and the decision of PPC's unions and workers".

[02] Summer sales to start on July 15

The summer sales period will open on Tuesday 15 July until the end of August.

During the sales, the shops are obliged to indicate on every piece of good on sale a dual price, one being the price before the sales (usually crossed-out) and the other being the applicable price including the sales discount. It is up to the business' discretion to mention the discount percentage, although in this case the word discount should accompany the percentage (e.g. "50% discount"). There are large fines awaiting those who mention fake discount prices or percentages.

ESEE also called the consumers to refrain from buying goods from illegal street vendors, "who do not offer quality, guarantees or receipts".
