[01] There is optimism over real economy's prospects , Eurobank says
ANA-MPA/ There is room for optimism in the prospects of the real economy,
Eurobank analysts said in the latest weekly bulletin on Thursday.
Optimism is based among others on the fact that the turnover index in
retail trade excluding fuel rose 3.0 percent year-on-year in November
2013 for the first time since April 2010, mainly due to interim sales
in November.
The PMI index exceeded the benchmark of 50 points in January 2014,
which signifies expansion in the manufacturing sector for the first
time since August 2009 due to increased production and orders in the
manufacturing sector.
Deposits of the private sector rose 1.4 percent, on a monthly basis,
in December 2013 for a second consecutive month, after five months
of decline.
Eurobank analysts estimate that it is possible to reach an agreement
on the 2014 fiscal gap with a partial payment of the tranche and the
government committing itself to the implementation of structural reforms.
