[01] Venizelos in Brussels on Monday���-���-- Government Vice President and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will be on Monday in Brussels to participate in EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, the first after Greece's assumption of the EU presidency.On the meeting's agenda are the developments in Egypt and Syria as well as the repercussions of the Syrian crisis in Iraq and Lebanon. The course of the peace process in the Middle East and the developments in Afghanistan will also be discussed. The prospects of Europe's and Russia relations ahead of EU-Russia Summit that will be held in Brussels will be discussed at a working dinner. In the afternoon, the EU Foreign Ministers will examine the prevailing condition in South Sudan and the political, military and humanitarian dimensions of the crisis in the Central African Republic. According to PASOK sources, Venizelos has made clear to his partners that Greece will not participate in any operation in the Central African Republic. Finally, Venizelos will brief the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee on the Greek Presidency's priorities in EC as well as of the results of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting. He is also scheduled to meet his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides to discuss the latest developments on Cyprus, following the visits of Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiadis and Venizelos to the U.S. On Tuesday, Venizelos will chair an EU-Serbia meeting to open the country's accession negotiations and hold a press conference. On Thursday, Venizelos will visit Thessaloniki, in Northern Greece. Venizelos, as well as Hannes Svoboda, will participate in an event organised by the Europarliament's Socialists and Democrats. Finally, on January 27, he will chair a meeting of the National Council of Foreign Affairs, to brief its members of foreign policy issues. [02] Greek firms to be given a head start, if they meet requirements, TAP consortium saysANA- MPA -- Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) consortium will invite bids for the construction and ancillary works for the project at the end of 2014 or the beginning of 2015.The joint venture has also announced that Greek companies would be given a head start, provided they are qualified and meet the necessary requirements. TAP consortium was responding to Greek companies' allegations that domestic construction groups are being disqualified under the tenders' terms. It also noted that in cooperation with a consulting firm, hundreds of Greek companies have been identified as potential bidders. The pipeline will transport natural gas from the Shah Deniz deposit in Azerbaijan to Europe via Greece and Albania. According to estimates, 2,000 direct and 10,000 indirect jobs will be created.
