[01] Citizen Protection Minister discusses migration with EU Commissioner
ANA-MPA/ Public Order and Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Dendias
met on Tuesday with EU Home Affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom in
his office in Athens.
After the meeting Dendias gave the commissioner a tour of the facilities
of the committees on asylum, next to the ministry building.
Malstrom expressed her satisfaction with what she saw and said that
positive steps have been taken, although problems still exist that
she believed would be resolved. She noted that the EU is committed
to supporting Greece financially, given that the country is in a deep
economic crisis and bears the largest volume of migration flows in Europe.
Dendias noted that the asylum facilities the country offers are a model
in Europe and he underlined the EU's response in providing funding for
the migration issue.
