[01] 'Suspicious object' at Agios Nikolaos train station turns out to
be a hand grenade
ANA-MPA -- A hand grenade was discovered shortly after 8:00 p.m. on
Tuesday after the police shut down the electric railway (ISAP) station
of Agios Nikolaos in Athens.
Initially alerted by a passenger about a suspicious object, the police
said the hand grenade was discovered in a railway shaft under the platform
and next to the rail lines. The ISAP trains were stopped and the station
evacuated, as the police bomb squad and army specialists were called in.
The station remains closed as of this writing.
