[01] Turkish Airlines announce plan for direct flights between Crete
and Istanbul
AMNA -- Turkish Airlines plan to introduce four direct flights a week
between the island of Crete and Istanbul beginning in June, Gulay Ozturk,
the airline's general director in Greece, announced on Thursday in a
meeting with Regional Governor of Crete Stavros Arnaoutakis.
According to Arnaoutakis, the tourism sector on Crete will benefit
greatly from the development, adding that the meeting was held to brief
sector representatives.amna
Ozturk also announced that major Turkish tour operators will be flown
by Turkish Airlines to Crete in early June.
Roughly one million Turkish tourists visited Greece in 2012.amna
