[01] Wildfire on Mt. Mainalos
AMNA--A wildfire broke out on Monday morning on Mt. Mainalos, Arcadia
prefecture. According to the Fire Brigade the fire was caused by
lightning.
Four firefighting aircraft are dropping water, assisted by on the ground
by five fire engines with a 12 member crew and a team on foot.amna
Meanwhile the wildfire in Candia, near Nafplio on Monday was placed
under control. A team of firefighters remain in the area to prevent
rekindlings.
[02] First governor of Greece's letters auctioned
AMNA--Thirty seven letters written by the first governor of Modern Greece
Ioannis Kapodistrias were sold for 26,000 euros at an auction by Vergis
auction house.
The letters were addressed to his close associate Alexandros Kondostavlos
and were written between 1828 and 1830 and refer to Kapodistrias' huge
efforts to put some order to the newly-established Greek state.
