[01] PM discusses transition to export-based growth modelAMNA--Prime Minister Lucas Papademos on Monday met the president of the Hellenic Association of Exporters Christina Sakellaridis in order to discuss ways to make the transition from so-called "opportunist" exports imposed by necessity to a viable, modern export-based growth model for the country.Leaving the meeting, Sakellaridis said that the premier's conviction about the need to establish a stable business framework - in terms of the tax system, greater liquidity for the market and by lifting bureaucratic obstacles - was a "factor for optimism".amna She stressed that the continued rise in Greek exports was an issue of national importance and that the implementation of a consistent national export-based strategy "the basis of a national consensual growth policy". [02] BoG: 5pct recession and over 19pct unemployment in 2012AMNA--The central Bank of Greece (BoG) on Tuesday released its 2012 annual report on the Greek economy, which predicts recession at nearly 5 percent and unemployment above 19 percent for the year 2012.amnaUnveiling the report, BoG chief George Provopoulos said that the choice between a painful effort to restructure the Greek economy inside the euro, and an irregular retreat that would take the country back decades "still remains today, two years after the first Memorandum", and warned that if after the May 6 general elections the new government's and society's determination to implement the programme is put in doubt, the country would be at risk of sinking quickly into a very adverse situation.amna The Bank of Greece governor said that the objective conditions in Greece have improved, but the exit from the crisis will depend on Greece's ability to deal with the historic challenge it faces today, and warned that uncertainty remains high as the pre-elections period has slowed down the materialisation of the planned changes.
