Karaviti) -- Greek President Karolos Papoulias on Tuesday reiterated Athens' position for the establishment of a democratic and independent Palestinian state, one in peaceful co-existence with the neighbouring state of Israel and with secure borders, speaking here after a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. ana-mpaMoreover, he said the Arab peace initiative remains a significant tool for the international community towards this goal. Speaking to Greek and Israeli businessmen active in the tourism sector, Geroulanos noted that since Greek prime minister George Papandreou's meeting with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow last July, the two countries and peoples have come closer, adding that both prime ministers have put tourism at the top of their agenda. More details on the subscriber's page of ANA-MPA | Subscription request form [03] ASE opening: DeclineEquity prices were declining at the opening of trade on Wednesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 0.67 percent, standing at 1,208.38 points at 11:15 am. and turnover 15,363 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving downwards with the biggest gains in Insurance up 2.08 percent; Technology, up 0.98 percent and Raw Materials, up 0.30 percent. The biggest losses were in Constructions, down 2.25 percent; Personal and Household Goods, down 1.21 percent and Health, down 1.20 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.71 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.45 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.49 percent. Of the stocks traded, 25 were up, 32 were down, and 19 were unchanged.
