[01] Troika: Further progress towards objectivesRepresentatives of the EC-ECB-IMF troika, in a written statement on Friday, expressed an overall assessment that Greece's stabilisation program has made further progress towards its objectives, "while there have been delays in some areas".The statement added, nevertheless, that the underlying fiscal and broader reforms "are being put in place". Troika experts were holding a joint press conference on Friday afternoon to present the initial results of the latest inspection of the Greek economy, in order to approve the disbursement of the fourth installment of the 110-billion-euro loan package to Greece. The officials of the IMF, the European Commission and the European Central Bank focused, according to reports, in their contacts at the Finance ministry and the other ministries involved in the memorandum, on the need to speed up structural changes. More details on the subscriber's page of ANA-MPA | Subscription request form [02] IKA doctors end strikeDoctors at IKA-ETAM, Greece's largest social security fund representing the vast majority of wage earners and pensioners, announced that they will suspend their strike and go back to work on Monday.Their union POESYP IKA decided to suspend strike action during a meeting on Friday but asked that dialogue on reforms to the health sector continue. IKA doctors intend to work together with other medical organisations and associations in order to file lawsuits asking the courts to effectively annul the omnibus bill on primary health care passed by the government earlier this week, in addition to other forms of action to be decided in coming days. Their union additionally announced that IKA doctors will participate in a strike being held by the civil servants' union federation ADEDY and the General Confederation of Employees of Greece (GSEE) on February 23. Hospital doctors will also join the February 23 strike, while meetings will be held in all hospitals to decide on further action against the omnibus bill, including occupation of hospital cashier desks to prevent patients paying fees in order to be examined by state hospitals. IKA doctors said they will also fight in courts to ensure 20-minute examination times for each patient so as not to put patients at risk and downgrade the role of IKA doctors. More details on the subscriber's page of ANA-MPA | Subscription request form [03] 155-mln-euro budget surplus(ANA-MPA) -- The state budget presented a surplus of 155 million euros in January 2011, from 578 million euros in the corresponding month in 2010, on a fiscal basis, according to temporary data regarding its implementation.The data was publicised by the finance ministry which stressed that "predictions on the revenues and the expenditures on a monthly basis for the month of January that are included in the Opening Report for the 2011 Budget are being confirmed." Specifically, the regular budget's net revenues amounted to 5,080 million euros and show a 9.2 percent decrease that according to the finance ministry is due to the non-repetition in January this year of circulation rate receipts by 393 million euros that had taken place last year. And this is so because this year the same extension was not provided for the payment of rates. (ANA-MPA) Another reason is the reduced revenues from the special contribution at profit-making businesses by 140 million euros compared to last year. The regular budget's expenditures are reduced by 2.5 percent. The first stage expenditures present a 2.6 percent decrease and interest 2.2 percent.
