[01] PM to brief President on current affairs(ANA-MPA) -- Prime minister George Papandreou will call on President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias on Tuesday to brief him on "all current affairs", while foreign minister Dimitris Droutsas will chair a meeting of the Council on Foreign Policy in the afternoon on regional developments, with the focus on Turkey, the Cyprus issue, the Western Balkans and the Middle East.The premier's discussion with the President is expected to focus particularly on matters concerning the economy, as well as Papandreou's recent talks with Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a visit to Erzurum late last week. More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [03] Inflation at 5.2pct in Dec.(ANA-MPA) -- Greek inflation rose to 5.2 percent in December 2010 year-on-year, from 4.9 percent year-on year in the preceding month of November, according to figures released on Tuesday by the independent Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 5.2% in December 2010 compared with December 2009. In December 2009, the annual rate of change of the CPI was 2.6%. (ANA-MPA) The CPI in December 2010 compared with November 2010, increased by 0.4%. In December 2009, the monthly rate of change of the CPI was 0.2%. (ANA-MPA) In the twelve-month period from January 2010 to December 2010 compared with the period from January 2009 to December 2009 the annual average rate of change of the CPI was 4.7%. The corresponding annual average rate of change of the CPI in the previous year (January 2009 to December 2009), was 1.2%. (ANA-MPA) The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in December 2010 compared with December 2009, increased by 5.2%. In December 2009, the annual rate of change of the HICP was 2.6%. Saitas) More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [04] ASE opening: RiseEquity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.55 percent, standing at 1,362.13 points at 11:15 am, and turnover at 19.324 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving mostly upward, with the biggest gains Travel & Recreation, up 2.25 percent, and Financial Services, up 1.53 percent. The biggest losses were in Telecoms, down 0.88 percent, and Health, down 0.57 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.78 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.58 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.40 percent. Of the stocks traded, 38 were up, 26 were down, and 22 were unchanged.
