  • [01] Stocks end slightly down

    Stocks ended slightly lower at the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, following a similar trend prevailing in other European markets. The composite index eased 0.3 pct to end at 1,423.92 points, after two days of advance. Turnover, however, remained at very low levels (42.510 million euros).

    The Big Cap index fell 0.33 pct, the Mid Cap index eased 0.34 pct and the Small Cap index fell 0.26 pct. Marfin Popular Bank (4.72 pct) and Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling (1.44 pct) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while OTE (2.40 pct), Eurobank (2.31 pct) and Alpha Bank (2.26 pct) were top losers.

    The Insurance (2.98 pct), Food (1.39 pct) and Technology (1.11 pct) sectors scored gains, while Telecoms (2.40 pct) and Media (1.57 pct) suffered the heaviest percentage losses of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 86 to 63 with another 54 issues unchanged.

    Ideal (17.39 pct), Loulis (9.52 pct) and Mevaco (9.33 pct) were top gainers, while Varagis (9.26 pct), Spider (8.70 pct) and Q&R (8.47 pct) were top losers.
