[01] PM proceeds with sweeping cabinet reshuffle(ANA-MPA) -- Prime Minister George Papandreou announced a major cabinet reshuffle in the early hours of Tuesday. More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [02] Second tranche of loan to GreeceFinance Minister George Papaconstantinou on Tuesday will brief his EU counterparts over progress in implementing an economic consolidation program agreed with the EU and the IMF before a Eurogroup meeting approves the handout of a second tranche of an EU loan facility to Greece, worth 9.0 billion euros.Eurogroup ministers are also expected to adopt recommendations made by the European Commission over accelerating implementation of structural reforms and strengthening the revenue leg of the mechanism. A group of "troika" experts are expected to visit Athens again in Sept. 13 to help the Greek government in drafting a 2011 state budget and finalising fiscal measures for next year. The ECOFIN and Eurogroup meetings, in Brussels, will focus on developments in the financial sector and more particularly on imposing a tax on banks and bank transactions. More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [03] ND reaction on reshuffleANA-MPA/Main opposition New Democracy (ND) spokesman Panos Panagiotopoulos on Tuesday characterized the new government arising from a sweeping reshuffle announced in the first morning hours as "a twilight government", and spoke of a "failure of the government and tragicomic behind-the-scenes".Panagiotopoulos, in a dawn statement, stressed that "it took eleven months and a long night of unprecedented tragicomic behind-the-scenes for the Prime Minister to acknowledge his government's failure". "With the reshuffle, which was the product of pressure and comprises, the price was paid by certain members of the government, Panagiotopoulos added, warning, however, that "if they continue to exercise the same policy the people and the country will continue to pay the price. Concluding the ND spokesman said that PASOK is a "twilight" government that has been humiliating itself from the very beginning due to prime minister's handlings. More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [04] Inflation at 5.5% in Aug.(ANA-MPA) -- Inflation in Greece was running at a high 5.5 percent in August, according to figures released on Tuesday by the independent Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recording a 5.5 percent rise compared with August 2009.The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August 2010 compared with (ANA-MPA) August 2009, increased by 5.5%. The previous year, in August 2009, the annual rate of change of the CPI was 0.8%. The CPI in August 2010 compared with July 2010, decreased by 0.7%. The previous year, in August 2009, the monthly rate of change of the CPI was -0.7%. (ANA-MPA) More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [05] ASE opening: DeclineEquity prices were declining at the opening of trade on Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), in a mild adjustment after four days of rallying, with the basic share price index down 0.76 percent, standing at 1,660.72 points at 11:00 am, and turnover at 10.315 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving downward nearly across the board, with the only gains in Insurance, up 1.47 percent. The biggest losses were in Telecoms, down 1.89 percent; and Public Utilities, down 1.73 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.94 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.87 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 0.25 percent. Of the stocks traded, 14 were up, 43 were down, and 10 were unchanged.
