  • [01] Bomb explosion in Ministry

Citizens Protection Minister Mihalis Chryssohoidis's aide-de-camp was killed on Thursday night when a booby-trapped package exploded in the latter's hands just after 8 p.m. next to the minister's office on the seventh floor of the ministry building.

According to first reports, the aide opened a parcel addressed to the minister. The aide, as Chryssohoidis' personal assistant, was responsible for opening the minister's correspondence.

It was as yet unknown how the package was delivered to the ministry, and an investigation was underway to determine how it reached the 7th floor office without detection by security checks.

The strong blast caused extensive damage.
