[01] President Papoulias to address World Energy Future SummitPresident of the Republic Karolos Papoulias will be the main speaker at the World Future Energy Summit that will be held from 18 to 21 January in Abu Dhabi, UAE, following an invitation by the UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al NayhanPapoulias will also meet with the UAE president and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed al Nayhan while in Abu Dhabi. The summit will take place under the auspices of the Crown Prince. [02] Live Christmas trees planted in fire-stricken area in PendeliMore than 2,100 live Christmas trees were planted on Sunday in a five acre expanse in the fire-stricken Megaro Doukissis Plakendias area in Pendeli.Local residents turned up with the live tree plants they had decorated for Christmas to join in the effort. The City of Athens also took part in the project with the 250 fir tree saplings that had made up its environment-friendly Christmas tree in downtown Syntagma Square throughout the holidays, while the municipality of Halandri donated 1,500 trees and the non-governmental organisation Greenbelt planted 300 trees. Also among the participants were alternate foreign minister Dimitris Droutsas, who planted the ministry's live tree and his own tree from his home, MPs, and mayors of nearby municipalities. The tree-planting project was organised by the Pendeliko Protection and Regeneration Association (SPAP) with the support of SKAI private radio and television station and the participation of the City of Athens and other municipalities in Attica prefecture. [03] �SE opening: DeclineEquity prices were declining at the opening of trade on Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 2.13 percent, standing at 2,267.18 points at 11:15 a.m., and turnover at 32.807 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving mostly downward, with the only gains in Construction, up 0.29 percent. The biggest losses were in Health, down 2.71 percent; and Banks, down 2.07 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 2.46 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 1.65 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 1.34 percent.
