  • [01] Oasis of green in downtown Karditsa, central Greece

A public park, spanning over a space of 165-stremmas, is an oasis of green in the center of the city of Karditsa, Province of Thessaly in central Greece.

The park named "Pafsilipon" meaning in Greek "that which takes sadness away", was created over a century ago, 20 years after Thessaly became part of the Modern Greek State in 1881.

All local art events and exhibitions were hosted there and the bust of Prime Minister Nikolaos Plastiras was unveiled in the mid '50s.

The park was renovated in the '90s based on an award winning study that was aimed at transforming it into a modern urban green space.
