That same evening, Karamanlis will address a gathering of the local Greek community in Brussels, after which he will attend a working dinner of the EU heads of state and government.

The premier will make statements to the press after the working dinner.

[02] Music, mementos museum on Lefkada

Some 50 phonographs as well as, gramophones, old vinyl music records, gravures, postcards and old photographs, swords, knives and guns, laternas (a variant of the barrel piano very popular in Greece in the late 19th and early 20th century), old bank notes, local embroideries and tools, used in professions that do not exist anymore or are close to being extinct, together with many more small treasures, take the visitors on a journey to past times reflected in the Greek black and white movies of the 50s and 60s.

The private museum was founded in 1990 and is the only one of its kind in Greece.

[03] 4.3R quake jolts Lamia

The trembler was recorded at 10:13 a.m. at a distance of 22 kilometers west of Lamia, with its epicentre on the boundary between the municipalities of Makrakomi and Xyniada.

The earthquake caused panic among local residents, but no damage was reported.

Municipal teams, however, were surveying the areas surrounding the epicentre.

[04] Stocks up at ASE opening

Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Wednesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 1.05 percent, standing at 2,558.48 points at 10:45 a.m., and turnover at 27.5 million euros.

Individual sector indices were moving upward nearly across the board, with the only losses in Travel & Recreation, down 0.34 percent.

The biggest gains were in Financial Services, up 2.91 percent; Raw Materials, up 2.49 percent; Oi & Gas up 2.00 percent; Insurance, up 1.94 percent; and Construction, up 1.57 percent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 1.03 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 1.33 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.88 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 85 were up, 11 were down, and 23 were unchanged.
