[01] PASOK on Siemens Hellas issueMain opposition PASOK party alternate spokesperson Maria Karaklioumi, commenting on Thursday on the statement by ruling New Democracy party Central Committee Secretary Lefteris Zagoritis, regarding the decision taken by PASOK's leader on the Siemens issue, said that "the perplexity of ND's leadership over the decision by the President of PASOK is obvious. This, however, is something that concerns them.Karaklioumi added that "the relentless question that remains unanswered and concerns the country and the citizens is for what reason they do not call for what PASOK is also calling for. Evidence and proof to come to light." Caption: ANA-MPA file photo of President of Republic Karolos Papoulias [07] KKE on SiemensCommunist Party of Greece (KKE), referring to the Siemens bribery and kickbacks case, said on Friday that "the revelations in the Siemens scandal point, inter alia, to how hypocritical and devious are ruling party New Democracy's and main opposition PASOK's proclamations on their party funds' transparancy".According to KKE " the only safe criterion for people to be informed on a party's real role and the source of its money is if their policy serves their own interests or those of major business groups", adding: "The people must remember what was ND's and PASOK's stance on the deregulation of telecommunications and OTE's (Hellenic Telecommunications organisation) privatisation, and what party tried to stop them. The people can stop the anti-social measures and corruption only if they have trust in their power and launch a counter-attacks against anti-social policy of ND, PASOK and the monopolies". [08] Snake captured in streetFire Brigade officers in the city of Trikala, central Greece, received a call on Friday from city residents asking them to remove an over 3-meter-long snake from a downtown street.After several efforts the snake was captured and transeffered to the Town Hall. The biggest losses were in Health, down 3.14 percent; Food and Beverages, down 1.24 percent; and Travel and Recreation, down 0.88 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 1.10 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.21 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.49 percent.
