[01] Fire on Marathonos Ave. partially contained (update)
A fire broke out at noon on Wednesday on Marathonos Avenue, near
Athens, adjacent to a forested expanse, but was quicly brought under
partial control.
According to the Fire Brigade, the fire broke out at a landfill at
12:00 noon, and was quickly fanned by high winds and was burning low
brush.
A strong team of 42 firefighters with 14 fire engines were battling the
blaze, assisted by a firefighting airplane.
