  • [01] PM receives new supreme courts' leaderships

    Prime minister Costas Karamanlis met on Monday with the new senior judiciary functionaries appointed last week to replace retiring colleagues in the country's three highest courts: the Areios Paghos (Supreme Court), the Council of State and the Court of Auditors.

    Karamanlis first met with the Areios Paghos' new president George Kalamidas and new vice-presidents Dionyssis Giannakopoulos, Mimis Grammatikoudis, Dimitris Patinidis and Theodora Go0ini.

    In a second meeting, he receoved Council of State new president Panayiotis Pikramenos and new vice-presidents Philoktimon Arnaoutoglou, Nikos Sakellariou, Demosthenes Petroulias and Athanassios Rantos.

    Karamanlis further met with the Court of Auditors' new vice-presidents Theocharis Dimakopoulos and Dionyssis Laskaratos, who were introduced to the premier by the court's president George-Stavros Kourtis.

    Justice minister Nikos Dendias, who was present at the meetings, told reporters afterwards that he also informed the prime minister that the National Council on Justice, which will deal with the major issues in the justice sector, will hold its first meeting in the next few days.
