[01] Fire-bomb attack on police station in MelissiaA group of about 10 people threw home-made fire bombs (molotov cocktails) at a police station in the northern Athens suburb of Melissia late Wednesday night, causing extensive damage to six police cars.The group was repulsed by the police station's guard, who fired shots in the air, while the duty officer threw two non-lethal grenades (emitting sound and light). The perpetrators approached the police station from the rear side of the building and threw several molotov cocktails, damaging three police patrol cars, two security police vehicles, and a private car belonging to a policeman, two of which vehicles were completely detroyed. [02] Cultural Portal of Aegean ArchipelagoThe Foundation of the Hellenic World (IME) has announced the www.egeonet.gr, the "Cultural Portal of the Aegean Archipelago", a network site that presents the history, culture and natural environment of the islands of the Aegean, from prehistoric times until today.According to an announcement, the aim of the site is to bring into contact both the Greek and international public with the historic, cultural and environmental character of the Aegean and, at the same time, to constitute a useful implement for those intending to visit Aegean islands in the summer. The site contains information on both the history and culture of each island and wider issues of a historic and cultural nature, such as shipping, piracy, Aegean archaeology, popular culture and demography. The announcement further revealed that through www.egeonet.gr the visitor can be informed about festivals, sports clubs, cultural societies, fairs and celebrations that are being organised, newspapers, television channels and radio stations and traditional settlements or natural monuments. [03] ASE opening: RiseEquity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Thursday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.81 percent, standing at 2,428.18 points at 10:45 a.m., and turnover at 28.2 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving mostly upward, with the biggest gains in Telecoms, up 2.44 percent; Banks, up 1.33 percent; and Raw Materials, up 1.24 percent. The biggest losses were in Food & Beverage, down 1.06 percent; Public Utilities, down 0.25 percent; and Mass Media, down 0.25 percent.
