[01] PASOK leader tours Vergina siteMain opposition PASOK leader George Papandreou on Tuesday reiterated his party's positions on the FYROM issue, both regarding bilateral relations and the neighboring country's prospects for EU accession, in statements during a visit to the Vergina archaeological site in northern Greece."We want FYROM in the European Union, but its path to Europe will be opened by a mutually acceptable solution (to the name issue), which at the same time will restore Greece-FYROM relations," Papandreou said, and categorically ruled out any dual-name solution. Papandreou also accused the New Democracy government of oligory, adding that PASOK, when it took over the government, would assume initiatives on the issue in the context of the European Union. PASOK, he continued, has drawn a 'red line' on the FYROM issue, adding that this has become the national policy line. Caption: ANA-MPA file photo of main opposition PASOK party leader George Papandreou [02] French eco activist promotes new film in AthensFrench photographer, journalist and environmental activist Yann Arthus-Bertrand visited Athens on Monday within the framework of a promotional tour for his film, entitled "Home", which will premiere worldwide in movie theaters, the internet, television and in DVD form on June 5, World Environment Day.The film, through images taken by a camera fitted on an airplane, focuses on the planet's rapidly depleting natural resources. Bertrand stated that the film tells the story of life on Earth, underlining that "humans, being the smartest of the 100,000 different species living on our planet, have a duty to find ways to protect it." [03] Interview : SYN leader TsiprasCoalition of the Left, Movements and Ecology (SYN) leader Alexis Tsipras accused the government of a "secret agenda" which the citizens, and particularly the young generation, would learn of on the day after the European Parliament elections, speaking during an interview with ANA-MPA.Tsipras warned that the measures that the government will take after Sunday's Europarliament election would be '"in favor of the few and the banks" while, to a question on the prospect of early general elections, the SYN leader opined that early elections were inevitable and would be instigated by the people themselves, especially the working people. He said that the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA, the SYN-led parliamentary alliance) was the only political force that had dared to clash with the big interests on ecological matters.
