[01] Farmers mobilisationsProtesting farmers who have blocked the Greek- Bulgarian border station at Promachonas will meet on Wednesday evening to decide on the future of their mobilisations.The border crossing has been closed for more than 2 weeks and over the last two days the farmers have not allowed ay trucks loaded with perishable goods to cross the borders. Trucks and vehicles headed for Bulgaria are rerouting to the Exohi border crossing at Drama. Cretan farmers returned to the island on Wednesday from Piraeus, and were applauded at Heraklion port by colleagues and officials. After their disembarkation, they went to the Crete Periphery offices where they submitted a resolution demanding the resignatio of Alternate Interior Minister for Public Order Christos Markoyannakis. The protesting farmers symbolically threw a small quantity of fruit and produce before leaving. Meanwhile, farmers from Chania and Rethymno remained Wednesday at their blockade of the national highway between the two Cretan cities, and traffic was being detoured to provincial roads. Caption: ANA-MPA file photo of farmers blockade at Promachonas border crossing [02] Athens Stock Exchange : DropEquity prices were declining on Wednesday mid-session on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 0.38 percent, standing at 1,724.30 points at 12:25 p.m., and turnover at 39.2 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving downward nearly across the board, with the biggest losses in Travel & Recreation, down 4.61 percent, Public Utilities, down 1.02 percent; and Personal and Household products, down 0.76 percent. The biggest gains were in Construction, up 2.14 percent; Financial Services, up 1.59 percent; and Health, up 1.48 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.36 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.04 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 0.01 percent.
