[02] PM Karamanlis requests off-the-agenda discussion on economy

Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis addressed a letter to Parliament President Dimitris Sioufas on Tuesday requesting an off-the-agenda discussion on economic policy. "The constantly intensifying global financial crisis, the relative developments and prospects within the EU framework and the impact on our economy make the detailed briefing of the parliament members on the policy being followed by the government in the wider economic sector imperative," the prime minister's letter reads. The briefing will focus on the solution of current problems, measures for the protection of the economic sector and social cohesion, according to the letter.
