[01] PASOK reacts to PM's statementsA main opposition party spokesman, in reply to statements by PM Costas Karamanlis on Saturday, noted that the "government implements policies that are not reforms, only an arrangement of interests.""Such motions don't help the country move on, or to face the major issues, they don't establish relations of confidence and security to the citizens," spokesman George Papaconstantinou said. Meanwhile, Papaconstantinou on Friday said the issue of the transfer of control of OTE (the Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation) is a major issue for the party. "PASOK will intensify its activity to prevent this sale that the government is planning through mediators. We are categorical: This sale does not benefit the Greek consumer or the Greek economy," he said. Replying to a relevant question, the spokesman said that, apart from the question of principle, objections also exist concerning the transparency and legality of the procedure and did not rule out legal action on the part of PASOK as well. "We do not rule out anything and we want it to be very clear to Deutsche Telekom as well that it must be careful not to get involved in a case that has very clear legal problems," the spokesman stressed.
