  • [01] Greek parliament delegation visit to Hungary

VIENNA (ANA-MPA / D. Dimitrakoudis) -- The excellent level of Greek-Hungarian relations was reaffirmed during talks that members of a visiting foreign affairs and defence Parliamentary committee held in Budapest this week. The interest shared by Greece and Hungary in the western Balkan states' Euro-Atlantic progress was also underlined. The Greek parliamentary delegation, headed by committee president Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, began a two-day formal visit to Hungary on Tuesday. Additionally, talks focused on prospects of Serbia's EU accession, regarded as a significant step for regional stability and economic growth. The two sides agreed that there is room for closer bilateral cooperation in different sectors. The Hungarian side also expressed support towards efforts for a peaceful and viable solution to the Cyprus problem, while the Greek delegation expressed appreciation for Hungary's support over the FYROM "name issue". The Greek delegation attended the formal opening of the exhibition "Symposium on Ancient Macedonia", organised at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest.

[04] Acclaimed dance troupe in Athens

The acclaimed modern dance company Cloud Gate Dance Theatre from Taiwan is scheduled to perform the successful production 'Moon Water' for four successive nights at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron), from Thursday until Sunday.

The 24-member company founded in 1973 has numerous distinctions under its belt and an illustrious career that includes tours in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. It is so highly regarded in its native Taiwan that the government has named August 21 as "Cloud Gate Day" and also named the street where its offices are based "Cloud Gate Lane".

Using a unique style of dance that blends diverse disciplines, including Tai Chi, martial arts, modern dance and ballet, the dreamy 'Moon Water' is based on a buddhist proverb - "Flowers in a mirror and moon on the water are both illusory" - and explores the relationship between reality and reflection to the soundtrack of six solo cello works by Bach.
