    A 52-year-old man was arrested in Xirochori, Thessaloniki on Tuesday after police found in his possession 24 kilos and 126 grams of hashish and a small quantity of methadone he intended to sell. The detainee is accused of growing cannabis plants in a specially modified area in his yard.

    Tobacco producers block national highway outside Lamia

    Tobacco producers from Fthiotis prefecture closed off the Athens-Lamia national highway at the 210th kilometer, outside Lamia on Tuesday, forcing traffic to use bypasses.

    Farmers set up a road block with more than 100 tractors in demand of subsidies for tobacco production.

    Another 300 farm vehicles were currently gathered at the Atalanti exit.

    [03] Athens Stock Exchange: Dive

    Equity prices were dropping on Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 2.66 percent, standing at 1,870.84 points at 12:15 p.m., and turnover at 45.5 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving downward nearly across the board, with the only gains in Insurance, up 1.37 percent.

    The biggest losses were in Banks, down 4.72 percent; Telecoms, down 2.88 percent; Industrial Products, down 2.67 percent; and Financial Services, down 2.35 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 3.24 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 1.77 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 2.23 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 31 were up, 114 were down, and 20 were unchanged.
