[01] No Greeks among refugees
There are no ethnic Greeks among the people fleeing S. Ossetia seeking
refuge to Vladikavkaz, the capital of N. Ossetia, confirmed Greece's
Consul General to Novorossiysk Theodoros Economou-Kamarinos. The Greek
consul general arrived in Vladikavkaz on Sunday following orders by
Deputy Foreign Minister Theodoros Kassimis, responsible for Greeks
abroad, to find out if there are any ethnic Greeks living in S.
Ossetia, who might be trapped in the war zone, and if so what is their
current state. The Greek diplomat is scheduled to have consultations
Monday with local political authorities in N. Ossetia and with the
Russian military commander in charge of the operations in the region.
