[01] PM briefed by Development MinisterPrime Minister Costas Karamanlis met on Thursday with Development Minister Christos Folias, who briefed the premier on his recent visit to Moscow, during which he had talks with Russia's new energy minister Sergey Shmatko and the industry and trade minister Viktor Khristenko on progress in the major joint projects being constructed by the two countries, namely the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline and the South Stream natural gas pipeline.Folias told reporters afterwards that a review was made on progress to date, and on the agreement between the two sides on the necessity of continuing work on the projects at a fast pace. He said that both sides want the works to be accelerated, adding that "time is an important factor for all investments". [03] Tourists swarming to MeteoraTourists from eastern European countries, mostly Russians and Romanians, have been swarming this summer to the monastic community located on the nature-made rock towers of Meteora, central Greece, whereas in the past the region was a popular destination for tourists coming from France, Britain, Italy and the United States.
