[01] Papandreou promises no pension cuts
Main opposition PASOK party president George Papandreou attended
festivities in the western port city of Patras on Friday on the
occasion of the feast day of Apostolos Andreas (St. Andrew), the city's
patron saint. Referring to the timely issue of social security reform,
Papandreou said his party's policy guarantees that there will be no
pension cuts, while retirement age limits and contributions will not
increase. The PASOK leader also said that the few "healthy" pension
funds should not be called on to pay the price for whatever mergers of
