The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stressed in an announcement on Friday that the beginning of social dialogue "signals the passing to a new phase of the attack by the plutocracy and the European Union on the social security and pensioning rights of working people."

"The New Democracy (ND) party government, in cooperation with the representatives of capital, is setting up the "social dialogue" aiming at securing the consent of working people for a previously-decided antipopular policy that includes: the implementation of the previous antilabour laws of the ND and PASOK governments, supplemented with new measures, that is demanded by the plutocracy and promoted by the EU, with the first target being young people and women in the direction of: increasing pensioning age limits and working people's contributions. Their separation according to age. The decrease in pensions and new exemptions for plutocracy even from its minimum contributions. This direction is being implemented all over the EU."

KKE added that the participation in the beginning of the "social dialogue" of the leaderships of the General Confederation of Workers of Greece (GSEE) and the Civil Servants Supreme Administrative Council (ADEDY) contrasts with the interests of the working class. "Their steadfast position in favour of class consensus and the support they provided for previous anti-social security laws reveals their role."
