    The exodus of city dwellers culminated on Friday for the Feast of the Assumption holiday period.

    The remaining inhabitants of the major cities are leaving for the countryside and islands with every possible means, that is, by car, inter-city buses, trains, ships and aircraft.

    Extraordinary measures are being taken with overseeing by helicopters, for the safe movement of excursionists who are traveling by car for the holiday period. Attica Traffic Police are implementing extra measures from Friday until Wednesday, August 15. Trucks are forbidden to travel during this period.

    The measures concern the facilitation of traffic in central Athens as well as the smooth and safe flow of traffic in the main road junctions, in the Attica Basin network, but also in the frequent points of the suburbs (ports, train and bus stations, Athens airport and the sites where traditional religious events take place).

    Traffic Police crew will facilitate the flow of traffic and be on high alert in the event of violations.

    Police crews will check traffic violations throughout Attica on a 24-hour basis, with special emphasis on violations of speed beyond the permitted limit, not stopping at red traffic lights as well as driving under the influence of alcohol.
