[01] Prime Minister Karamanlis on visit to SarajevoPrime minister Costas Karamanlis arrived in Sarajevo on Monday for a 24-hour visit, and was due to meet with Bosnia-Herzegovina Council of Ministers chairman (prime minister) Nikola Spiric in the morning (local time) after an official welcoming ceremony at the Council of Ministers building.At 11:00, the prime minister will have talks with the three-member federal presidium of the country and sign bilateral agreements, followed by statements to the press. At 1:00 p.m., Karamanlis will attend the inauguration ceremony of the Greece-Bosnia-Herzegovina Friendship Building, followed by an official luncheon with Spiric. Afterwards, he will visit Camp Butmir, the headquarters of the European Union Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR) and of the Greek contingent to the EUFOR. Karamanlis is slated to depart early Tuesday for his return to Athens. The Greek prime minister is accompanied by minister of state and government spokesman Theodoros Roussopoulos, and deputy foreign minister Evrypidis Stylianidis. Karamanlis' talks with the Bosnia-Herzegovina leadership will focus on bilateral cooperation, as well as Bosnia-Herzegovina's European prospect. Political and economic relations between the two countries have marked a rapid development since they developed diplomatic ties in 1996, and Greece has steadfastly backed Bosnia-Herzegovina's efforts for the consolidation of political stability in the country and its economic development. Greece's developmental aid to the country in the period 1996-2002 exceeded 55 million dollars, while under the Greek Plan for the Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans (ESOAB) a sum of 19.5 million euro is earmarked for Bosnia-Herzegovina. Greece is also a major investor in Bosnia-Herzegovina, with Greek investors ranking in 7th place among the foreign investors in the country.
