Ex-champions Greece won an exhilerating semi-final on Saturday, scoring a 67-66 last-minute win over France.

"It was a basketball feast and unfortunately one team had to lose," the national team's coach, Panagiotis Yannakis, told reporters.

A three-pointer in the final three seconds of the game earned Greece a ticket to the final and hopes of the gold.

"Our national team has made all Greeks proud with their great victory and major endeavour. The hope is that the team will emerge as victors in Europe in today's final," Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis said.

Germany beat Spain 74-73 with Dirk Nowitzki scoring 27 points.

It will be the Greece's first final since 1989.

The European championship final will be broadcast live by NET state television at 22:00 hours.
