[01] ASE closing (recasts)31/12/2002 17:02:54The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavy traded stocks rose 0.14 percent to end the year at 863.90 points, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index rose 0.54 percent to end at 187.51 points and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index jumped 1.07 percent to end at 464.49 points. Sector indices ended as follows: Banks:2,688.23 +0.69% Telecommunications:816.81 0.72% Insurance:517.70 +0.17% Investment:543.12 +1.36% Construction:946.98 +1.27% Textile:394.80 +1.08% Industrials:1.014.72 +0.26% Holding:1.054.57 +0.29% Base Metals:425.99 +1.32% Minerals:789.22 +1.20% Publications:234.03 +0.98% Retail:535.16 1.31% IT:472.10 +0.78% IT Solutions:192.78 +1.27% Wholesale:380.51 +0.44% Food-Beverage:437.86 0.06% The parallel market index for smaller capitalisation stocks ended at 149.30, up 0.29% Refineries:917.66 +1.05% Real Estate:819.45 +1.49% Xifias (12%), Papafilis (11.86%), Alysida (11.63%), Infoquest (10.64%) and Allatini (9.92%) scored the biggest percentage gains of the day, while Elfico (11.52%), Plaisio (10.84%), Technodomi (9.09%), Eltrak (8.79%) and Giannousis (7.29%) suffered the heaviest losses. Sex Form, Balkan Export, Themeliodomi, Atermon and Naoussa Spinning were the most heavily traded stocks. At the end of the year, the Greek bourse's capitalisation totalled 66.327 billion euros. A total of 336 listed shares recorded losses ranging from one to 83 percent during 2002, while 27 shares recorded gains between 0.37 percent to 67 percent with only one share unchanged during the year. The general index ended at 1,748.42 points unchanged from Monday's close, with turnover a low 54.6 million euros. The Retail, Telecommunications and Food-Beverage sectors recorded the heaviest percentage losses of the day (1.31 percent, 0.72 percent and 0.06 percent, respectively), while the Investment, Base Metal and IT Solutions sectors scored the biggest gains (1.36 percent, 1.32 percent and 1.27 percent).
