    Cloudy and showery weather is forecast in most parts of the country on Wednesday with storms in the Aegean and light snowfall on high ground. Winds variable, moderate, turning strong in parts of the Aegean. In the north, temperatures will range from 01C to 08C; in the west from 04C to 14C; and in the rest of the country from 06C to 15C. Temperatures in Athens between 07C and 13C; and in Thessaloniki from 05C to 08C.

    Athens Mayor Dimitris Avramopoulos on Tuesday inaugurated the Maria Kallas Museum at the Athens Technopolis, located in the Gazi neighborhood.

    Politicians, artists and academics were present for the event that became possible by a donation of Kallas' personal effects and other paraphernalia by Alexandra Kanellopoulou and Thekla Marinidi.

    A large portion of the exhibits were purchased in Paris in 2000 following a proposal made by Avramopoulos and approved by the municipal council and with the support of Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos.

    The Athens bourse finished higher on Tuesday with players showing interest in high capitalisation paper, especially banks, from mid-session onwards.

    The general share index gained 0.47 percent to end at 1,825.89 points. Turnover was 96.4 million euros.

    The FTSE/ASE-20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks ended 0.92 percent up; the FTSE/ASE-40 for medium capitalisation paper 0.52 percent lower; and the FTSE/ASE-80 for small cap equities finished 1.35 percent down.

    Of stocks traded, declines led advances at 222 to 85 with 47 issues remaining unchanged.
