[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: sharp drop

Equities were falling at the opening of the session Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with the downward slide gathering momentum as the bad news continued to come in from markets abroad.

The general share price index was down 0.90 per cent 20 minutes after trade opened, standing at 2,080.71 points, with turnover at 3.4 million euros.

Individual sector indices were mostly moving down, with the biggest gains in Publishing, up 0.62 per cent, and the biggest losses in Holdings, down 1.41 per cent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.96 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.65 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was down 0.45 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 38 were up, 137 were down and 32 were unchanged.

[03] Weather Forecast: Cloud, rain on Tuesday

Cloud turning to showers and storms is forecast in all parts of the country. Winds northerly, light to moderate. In the north, temperatures will range from 15C to 28C; on the rest of the mainland from 17C to 29C; and in the Aegean islands from 20C to 28C. Temperatures in Athens between 20C and 28C; and in Thessaloniki between 19C and 27C.
