[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: bourse flat30/08/2002 12:21:36Equities remained level at the opening of the session Friday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with investors holding back until a clear picture of market trends had emerged. Friday's opening was also marred by technical glitches, with many systems down and a number of workstations offline until about 20 minutes into the session. The general share price index was marginally down 0.03 per cent 10 minutes after trade opened, standing at 2,137.48 points, with turnover at 4.5 million euros. Individual sector indices were mixed, with the biggest gains in Retail Trade, up 0.56 per cent, and the biggest losses in Ores and Cement, down 0.59 per cent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.15 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.25 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.15 percent. Of the stocks moved, 36 were up, 19 were down and 12 were unchanged.
