[01] Police release photos of .38 found in N17 hideout12/07/2002 23:39:56The Greek police on Friday released photographs of a 0.38 Smith & Wesson revolver found in the November 17 hideout in Patissia, saying that it was one of the key weapons used by the terrorist group. Police spokesman Lefteris Economou announced that ballistics tests showed that the gun had been used in seven different terrorist attacks and robberies carried out by N17 since 1983. These included an attack on a Filothei police station on November 8, 1983, the robbery of a National Bank branch in Petralona and the murder of police officer Christos Matis on December 24, 1984, an armed robbery at a Post Office Savings Bank branch on Patission street on July 13, 1988, the murder of public prosecutor Constantine Androulidakis on January 10, 1989, an attack on police officer Ioannis Papafotis on November 20, 1991 and the murder of Costas Peratikos in Piraeus on May 28, 1997. [02] Greece unveils 1.2-bln-euro agrotourism programme12/07/2002 23:39:48''We have the highest growth rate in the EU, but that's not enough for us,'' Prime Minister Costas Simitis said on Friday, unveiling an ambitious agro-tourism programme worth 1.2 billion euros. Speaking to reporters, after a meeting of cabinet committee for the development of the countryside, Mr Simitis presented the four axis of a government programme to promote agro-tourism in Greece. These were: -promoting tourist programmes in the five cities that will host Olympic Games events (Olympia, Thessaloniki, Volos, Patras, Heraclion), -approving 125 integrated programmes envisaging tourist development in mountainous, island and underdeveloped regions of the country with emphasis given in the regions of Evros, Rodopi and Drama, -implementing a certification programme for agricultural products and, -implementing immediately a LEADER+ programme to fund hotel infrastructure and other tourist events. Agriculture Minister George Drys said the basic target of agrotourism was to interconnect Greek farm products with the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. The cabinet committee also approved the formation of a Special Coordinating Committee to promote tourist development in the countryside. Dimitropoulos) - Parliament President Apostolos Kaklamanis, Yugoslav Federal President Vojislav Kostunica and Yugoslav Federal Prime Minister Dragisa Pesic held talks here on Friday on Yugoslavia's new state structure and the present situation in Kosovo. Kaklamanis' visit is the first to be made to Belgrade by a Greek Parliament president over the past 30 years. He later said the issue of the new state between Serbia and Montenegro is a focal one for the country's course, as well as for stability and peace in the region.
