[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: bourse moving up

Equities were rising at the opening of trading on the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, with buyers showing more interest in small cap and medium capitalisation paper.

The general share price index was up 0.76 percent 10 minutes into the session at 2,647.15 points, and turnover was 7.6 million euros, or 2.6 billion drachmas.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.80 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index rose 0.77 percent and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.90 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 187 were up, 16 were down and 47 were unchanged.

[02] Second euro-heist of the year in Vyronas bank robbery

Armed robbers got away with 20,000 euros after holding up a branch of Alpha Bank in the Athens suburb of Vyronas on Thursday morning at 9:50 am.

The two masked men were wearing helmets and were armed with a Kalashnikov rifle and a handgun. They got away on a stolen motorcycle.

[03] Weather Forecast: Snow and rain on Thursday

Cloudy throughout the country on Thursday, with rain and snow in the north later in the day. Winds northerly, moderate to gale force. In the north, temperatures will range from -10C to -1C; on the rest of the mainland from -6C to 5C; and in the islands from -1C to 7C. Rain and snow in Athens with temperatures between -1C to 5C. Same in Thessaloniki, with temperatures from -5C to -1C.
