    Equities were slightly up at the opening of trade Friday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), as the session kicked off with edgy trade and volatile prices. The general share index was down 0.42 percent minutes into the session, but revived buyer interest pushed it back up by 0.35 per cent to 2,280.09 points at 12:20 p.m. Turnover stood at 11.6 million euros or roughly four billion drachmas.

    Individual sector indices were mixed, with the biggest gains in information technology, up 2.44 percent; publishing, up 1.28 percent; and banks, up 0.94 percent.

    The biggest losses were in participations, down 0.86 percent; textiles, down 0.85 percent; and IT solutions, down 0.7 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE-20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.51 percent; the FTSE/ASE-40 for medium capitalisation paper was up 0.1 percent; and the FTSE/ASE-80 for small cap equities was up 0.08 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 128 were up, 91 were down and 76 were unchanged.

    The weather will be sunny throughout the country on Friday, with limited early morning visibility in some areas due to mist. Winds westerly, light to moderate. In the north, temperatures will range from 12C to 29C; on the rest of the mainland and the Ionian from 15C to 31C; and in the Aegean islands from 19C to 29C. Sunny in Athens, with temperatures between 18C and 31C. Same in Thessaloniki, with temperatures from 15C to 29C.
