Mostly sunny and hot weather is forecast for Greece on Sunday, with
sporadic showers possible in the north during the late afternoon.
Northerly winds, light to medium, in the Ionian; progressively stronger
northerly winds in the Aegean. The temperature in Athens will reach
38C, up to 36C in Thessaloniki.

A major wildfire was still burning Saturday afternoon on the
mountainous boundary between the prefectures of Ioannina and Grevena,
northwestern Greece.
According to authorities, firefighting efforts were stymied by the
rugged terrain in the remote region as well as repeated blasts from
WWII-era shells left abandoned on several slopes at the Laisa and
Perivoli sites.
Meanwhile, another three blazes around mainland Greece were reportedly
under control, all amid a scorching heatwave not expected to let up
until Monday.
