Kri-Kri SA, a dairy products company based in northern Greece, reported a 20 percent increase in turnover and profits in the first half of 2000.

The company has applied for listing on the parallel market for smaller capitalisation stocks of the Athens Stock Exchange and is waiting for an official approval.

Kri-Kri SA expects its turnover to exceed 3.1 billion drachmas and profits more than 420 million drachmas this year, with both figures up compared with initial estimates.

Exports jumped 50 percent in the first half of the year from the corresponding period in 1999.

    [02] Turkish woman-Road accident

    17/07/2000 10:45:39

A 28-year-old Turkish woman was killed when a car driven by her father veered off course and overturned in a field off the Thessaloniki-Veria national highway, police said Monday.

They said Fatme Aldin was killed in the accident late Sunday, while her father Mehmet Ali Aldin, 51, and her brother, Erdal Aldin, 23, were seriusly injured. The family are Turkish immigrants living in Germany.

Police said that the father lost control of the car -- speculating that he possibly fell asleep at the wheel -- which went of course and overturned in a field.

Thousands of Turkish immigrants in western European countries return home for the holidays at this time of the year, usually travelling by road through Greece along the Igoumenitsa-Thessaloniki-Alexandroupolis highway.
