President Costis Stephanopoulos on Tuesday signed a Presidential Decree
dissolving parliament and formally proclaiming general elections on
April 9.
These will be the 10th parliamentary elections since the restoration of
democracy in Greece in 1974 after a seven-year military dictatorship.
The names of four caretaker ministers will be announced in the next few
days to take on the interior, justice, public order and press
ministries until the new government to emerge from the elections is
sworn in.
