La suspension est motivée par la contamination de certains lots de Viracept par de l'éthyl mésilate, une substance génotoxique. La décision est fondée sur les conclusions scientifiques de l'Agence européenne des médicaments (EMEA) et fait suite à des consultations avec les Etats membres.
