- Aide humanitaire: nouvelles en bref
La Commission europ�enne a approuv� l'octroi de subventions d'un montant
total de 7,41 millions d'euros � des projets d'aide humanitaire et de
pr�paration aux catastrophes. L'aide humanitaire a �t� accord�e � la Sierra
Leone (2 millions d'euros) � la Guin�e et au Lib�ria (2 millions d'euros),
� la Zambie (1,5 millions d'euros), � l'Ukraine et � la Bielorussie (700
000 euros), au Kenya (530 000 euros) ainsi qu'au Niger (285 000 euros).
L'aide aux projets de pr�paration aux catastrophes s'est �lev� � 395 000
euros. Ces cr�dits, g�r�s par ECHO, l'office humanitaire de la Communaut�
europ�enne, permettront � des organisations non gouvernementales et
organismes humanitaires internationaux de mener � bien divers programmes au
cours des six prochains mois. - Commission opens in-depth inquiry into
AlliedSignal/Honeywell merger
The European Commission has decided to open an in-depth investigation into
the acquisition by AlliedSignal Inc. of Honeywell Inc., both US firms. The
initial investigation of the Commission has shown that the merger may lead
to the creation or strengthening of a dominant position on one or more
markets for avionics products, but this has to be subject to further
investigation. The Commission must now take a final decision at the latest
