    LUXEMBOURG - Britain won carefully-worded support on Monday in its battle to get an EU ban on beef exports lifted, but fell a long way short of its target to get clear signals that the mad cow-inspired embargo would go soon.

    LUXEMBOURG - European Union veterinary specialists will meet on Tuesday to discuss specific aspects of the European Union's ban on exports of British beef, but cannot take any formal decisions on relaxing the month-old embargo.

    LUXEMBOURG - The European Commission on Monday criticised Britain's implementation of measures to mark, monitor and control the movement of cattle suffering mad cow disease, warning of implications for selective slaughter.
